Essential software you may need before installing Eidolon modules. Keep your drivers up to date — outdated GPU drivers are the most common cause of installation issues.

GPU Drivers

NVIDIA GeForce Drivers

Latest WHQL and Game Ready drivers for all GeForce GPUs. Required for CUDA acceleration on Eidolon generative modules.

AMD Adrenalin Drivers

Latest AMD Software Adrenalin Edition. Required for ROCm and Vulkan acceleration on Eidolon modules. Minimum version: 24.1.1.

Hardware Monitoring

System information and monitoring tool. Used by Eidolon to read hardware sensors (temperature, VRAM usage). Enable Shared Memory in the Gadget tab after installation.

Development Tools

Git for Windows

Required by some Eidolon module installers to fetch dependencies. If the installer fails with a Git-related error, install this first and retry.

Visual C++ Redistributable

Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributable (x64). Required by llama-server and several Eidolon components. Install if you see missing DLL errors.

Compute Frameworks

NVIDIA CUDA Toolkit

CUDA parallel computing platform. Eidolon modules include their own CUDA runtime, so this is only needed for advanced custom configurations.

AMD ROCm (Windows)

AMD ROCm compute platform for Windows. Required for some advanced AMD GPU configurations. Most users only need the Adrenalin driver above.

Linux (Ubuntu)

AMDGPU Driver (Linux)

AMD GPU driver for Ubuntu. Eidolon Chat Linux uses the native amdgpu kernel stack with RADV Vulkan — no proprietary driver needed on Ubuntu 24.04.

Audio/video framework required for voice I/O on Linux. Pre-installed on Ubuntu 22.04+. The Eidolon Linux installer includes an interactive microphone setup.
